Lipstein is an Israeli-born artist, painter, and printmaker based in Ireland. Born in Tel Aviv, he moved to Ireland in 1983 and graduated from the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Dublin, with a BA in Fine Art Printmaking in 2006 and an MA in Fine Art in 2009. Following his undergraduate studies, he received the CAP Foundation Award, and over the years has been recognized with additional awards for both printmaking and painting. After an earlier career in natural medicine, Lipstein dedicated himself to printmaking and painting, developing a practice rooted in mythology, symbolism, and the visual language of dreams. Drawing on decades of recorded dream journals, his paintings and prints combine mythical narratives with atmospheric imagery to explore the relationship between the subconscious, memory, and human experience. While he continues to work in printmaking, his recent practice has focused primarily on oil painting. A long-standing member of Graphic Studio Dublin, Lipstein has exhibited extensively in Ireland and internationally. His work is held in numerous public and private collections across Ireland, Europe, the United States, Israel, and Australia.

Exhibition Statement

Self Portrait with a Pet and a Bathtub was Daniel Lipstein's first solo exhibition at Olivier Cornet Gallery, Dublin. The exhibition brought together a new body of oil paintings exploring recurring themes in the artist's practice, including self-portraiture, memory, transcendence, the subconscious, and the relationship between people, animals, and landscape. Through works from the Climb series, the Mood with Pet paintings, and compositions such as Farewell to a Loved One, Local Bathtub, Summer, Spirit Walking Towards Light, and Self Portrait with a Pet and a Bathtub, the exhibition presented a cohesive visual language developed over many years, connecting personal experience with symbolic imagery.
