Yehuda Armoni
Claimed(1953)
Yehuda Armoni is a landscape painter whose practice is rooted in plein-air painting and direct observation. Working primarily in the premier coup tradition, he completes most of his paintings in a single sitting, responding to the constantly changing effects of light, atmosphere, and weather. Although he showed an early talent for painting, Armoni pursued another profession before dedicating himself fully to art in 2001. He studied with several leading Israeli painters before completing the master's class of Israel Hershberg at the Jerusalem Studio School in 2013. Armoni held his first commercial solo exhibition in 2006 and has since exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums throughout Israel. Since 2017, he has been represented by Rothschild Fine Art Gallery in Tel Aviv. Born into the historic Castel family, whose roots in the Land of Israel extend back more than five centuries, Armoni is also the great-nephew of the renowned Israeli painter Moshe Castel.
