Yosi Lubalsky is an Israeli painter based in Haifa. Trained in architecture (1999–2005), his early practice included architectural sketching and painting in the historic Neve Tzedek neighborhood of Tel Aviv. Between 2008 and 2010, he further developed his skills in realist figurative painting under professional guidance, working in oil and charcoal. Since then, his practice has been largely self-directed, focusing on Israeli landscapes, plant life, and natural environments. Raised in Hadera in a more rural setting, Lubalsky’s work reflects a strong sense of connection to nature and a longing for landscapes shaped by change and development. His paintings often explore themes of growth, transformation, and the relationship between the people and the environment, expressed through large-scale compositions that immerse the viewer. Alongside landscape work, he has created figurative and thematic series, including explorations of fatherhood and expressive studies of cats, through which he examines gesture, presence, and emotional connection. His background in dance and movement informs his visual language, particularly in the dynamic treatment of line, form, and structure. Lubalsky currently dedicates his practice to painting and ongoing research, exploring personal and perceptual processes through his work.
