Artist Statement
Painful memories and experiences led me to turn to art as a refuge into an alternative world and as a safe space for self-expression. Reborn also grows out of those experiences. At the centre of the project, I created works on paper featuring images of large-scale flowers. The rolls of paper seem to grow from the floor of the space and rise high toward the ceiling above the viewers.
For me, the image of the flower brings together life and death, joy and sadness, falling and rising, withering and blooming again. The flower, growing to enormous dimensions, reflects the intensity of an inner experience that is often invisible to others. The work represents a process of inner reconciliation after a long journey of challenges, during which I was constantly giving to others while neglecting my own needs. Just as a flower needs water in order to grow and live, the work expresses a choice to care for myself and a belief in the ability to bloom again despite everything.
