Led by directors Chris Deutscher and Damian Hackett, the firm draws on extensive experience across the commercial gallery and auction sectors and maintains galleries in Melbourne and Sydney. The auction house focuses exclusively on art, with specialist coverage spanning Colonial, Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary Australian art, Indigenous Australian and Oceanic art, and selected international works. Its auctions are supported by scholarly cataloguing, specialist research and carefully curated presentation. Deutscher and Hackett has handled a number of significant private and institutional collections, including works from the National Australia Bank Collection, the CBUS Collection of Australian Art, the collection of Sir Keith and Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, the Estate of James O. Fairfax AC, the Laverty Collection of Australian Aboriginal Art and the collection of Joan and Peter Clemenger.
