Inner Spaces

Artist Statement

This work emerged from a personal experience in which the body becomes the site of a quiet struggle between endurance and exhaustion. The first sound is a heartbeat—a sign of life, but also a constant reminder of the fear that it might disappear. Then comes silence, like a heavy emptiness that is difficult to bear. A repeated action continues again and again, like a daily attempt to hold on, and like an ongoing encounter with pain. The direct gaze breaks the distance and draws the viewer into the experience. A subtle trembling unsettles any sense of stability, confronting a reality that cannot be controlled. At the end, a cold mechanical sound meets a breath, reminding us that behind every machine there is a person waiting and afraid. The work is not only about illness, but about living alongside it—about waiting, and about fear that remains unspoken.
