Bruun Rasmussen is Denmark's leading auction house, founded in Copenhagen in 1948 by Arne Bruun Rasmussen. For more than seven decades, the company has played a central role in the Scandinavian art market, developing particular expertise in Danish and Nordic art, design, Asian art and decorative arts. Family-owned for three generations before joining the Bonhams Network in 2022, Bruun Rasmussen built an international reputation through landmark Scandinavian auction records, pioneering online auctions and its long-standing scholarship on artists such as Vilhelm Hammershøi. Today the company continues to serve collectors throughout Denmark and internationally from its headquarters in Lyngby.

Karel Appel — Têtes tournantes
Karel Appel's Têtes tournantes, painted in 1959, is a large and energetic example of the artist's mature COBRA-period work. Executed in oil on canvas and measuring 114 × 162 cm, the painting reflects Appel's expressive handling of colour, movement and the human figure. The work achieved a hammer price of DKK 2.05 million at Bruun Rasmussen, demonstrating the auction house's strength in significant Nordic and European modern art.
