Auction Highlight

Shaykh-Munis
Reuven Rubin's Shaykh-Munis, painted in 1923–1924, is an important early landscape from the formative period of modern Israeli art. The painting came from the Gaby and Ami Brown Collection and had been exhibited at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Museum of Art, Ein Harod. Its authenticity was confirmed by Carmela Rubin of the Rubin Museum. Offered as Lot 81 in Tiroche's Auction 142 on 2 July 2011, the work sold for US$529,000 against an estimate of US$150,000–200,000, marking a major result for Rubin and for the Israeli art market.

Overview
Founded in Herzliya Pituach in 1992 by Dov Hazan and Mickey Tiroche, Tiroche Auction House has developed into one of the principal marketplaces for Israeli art. The business grew from the Tiroche family's involvement in the Israeli art world beginning in the 1950s, when Jean Tiroche established galleries in Israel. Today the auction house is led by Dov Hazan and Amitai Hazan Tiroche. Tiroche has conducted more than 200 auctions and specialises in Israeli and international art alongside Judaica, jewellery, silver, decorative arts, watches and other collecting categories. Its programme combines major live auctions with regular online auctions, private sales and fixed-price offerings. The auction house has handled significant Israeli private, corporate and institutional collections, including works from the Phoenix Insurance Company collection, the Ami and Gaby Brown Collection, the El Al Art Collection and material associated with the Israel Museum and Tel Aviv Museum of Art. It has also conducted sales involving prominent estates and public figures, including Batsheva de Rothschild, Abba Eban, Ephraim Kishon, Yitzhak and Leah Rabin and Golda Meir. In 2014, Tiroche was appointed by the court to conduct the sale of the IDB Holdings art collection.
