Vilhelm Hammershøi — Interior, Strandgade 30
Vilhelm Hammershøi's Interior, Strandgade 30, painted in 1900, became one of the defining results in Bruun Rasmussen's history when it was sold in Copenhagen in November 2019. The painting depicts the austere interior of Hammershøi's home at Strandgade 30, a setting central to some of his most celebrated compositions. It achieved a hammer price of DKK 31.5 million, approximately DKK 41 million including buyer's premium, establishing both a new record for Bruun Rasmussen and the highest hammer price achieved in Denmark at the time.

Bruun Rasmussen is Denmark's leading auction house, founded in Copenhagen in 1948 by Arne Bruun Rasmussen. For more than seven decades, the company has played a central role in the Scandinavian art market, developing particular expertise in Danish and Nordic art, design, Asian art and decorative arts. Family-owned for three generations before joining the Bonhams Network in 2022, Bruun Rasmussen built an international reputation through landmark Scandinavian auction records, pioneering online auctions and its long-standing scholarship on artists such as Vilhelm Hammershøi. Today the company continues to serve collectors throughout Denmark and internationally from its headquarters in Lyngby.
